Baysbrown welcomes visitors who wish to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The site is intended for low-key stays rather than parties. Please take a moment to read the following conditions before your visit. We kindly ask that they are respected at all times to help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and pleasant experience

SITE RULES
NO NEW ARRIVALS PITCHING BEFORE 2PM OR AFTER 8PM
NO GROUPS
NO NOISE BETWEEN 11PM AND 7AM
NO MUSIC
NO OPEN CAMPFIRES BURNING THE GROUND

FACILITIES
The campsite offers an authentic camping experience. There are no set pitches. Just turn up and choose your spot. We are a grass site set up for tents and do not have hard standings.
A limited number of small campervans can be accommodated (max 2m x 5m) No motorhomes please. Please note that access is via a narrow entrance with a hump bridge, so longer vehicles risk damage.

Showers, toilets, a washing-up area, bins, and drinking water are provided. There is a plug for hairdryers in the ladies’ shower for 50p. No tokens are needed for the showers. A freezer is available for ice packs. There are no drying facilities onsite.  The nearest laundromat is located in Ambleside.

For supplies, Langdale Co-op is located in Chapel Stile village — less than a mile away, next to the pub. Please bring everything else you need with you.

Mobile reception in the valley is patchy. There is no Wi-Fi or electric hook-up on site — come and enjoy a digital detox!  Remember to load your maps beforehand.

ARRIVAL TIMES
New arrivals are welcome on site between 2pm and 8pm only please. There are no exceptions to this. Please check in and pay for camping BEFORE you pitch your tent.

DEPARTURE TIMES
On Saturday’s your pitch must be vacated by 12 noon. You are welcome to leave your car onsite if you would like to enjoy a walk before you leave.

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKENDS
There is a 2 night minimum stay on bank holidays. Late May and August bank holidays are very busy and we tend to fill up by Friday evening for the weekend. If you are thinking of arriving on Saturday please ring to check availability beforehand.

QUIET
We are a quiet site between 11pm and 7am. Please be considerate of other campers around you.

PARTY SIZE - No large groups
We are a family site and will not accept all male or female groups of more than four. We will not tolerate drunk or disorderly behaviour, including loud, aggressive and disruptive actions. Please don’t arrive separately and join together. You will be asked to leave.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH EXPEDITIONS - Please email to prearrange.

Due to increasing group sizes, we are no longer able to accommodate students on Saturday evenings or bank holiday weekends. An instructor is required to stay on site — groups of six or fewer at Gold level is the only exception. The instructor does not need to camp with the participants but must take responsibility for their behaviour and check the facilities before leaving the site.

All invoices for Duke of Edinburgh camping must be paid prior to or upon arrival. If you don’t pay, you can’t stay.

To ensure everyone has a great experience, please ask students to follow these guidelines:

  • Be considerate of others – There is no noise between 11pm and 7am. Please be mindful of other guests.
  • Keep the campsite clean – Dispose of all waste in the bins provided and leave no trace.
  • Use the facilities responsibly – Please do not use these areas for social gatherings and remember that other guests need access too. Large rucksacks are not permitted in the shower block.
  • Respect the area – Avoid damaging plants, trees, and wildlife. Leave all gates as you find them.

Groups not adhering to these rules may be barred from returning. By showing respect for the site and other guests, we can continue to welcome Duke of Edinburgh students in the future and ensure everyone enjoys a safe and pleasant expedition.

FIRES/BBQs
We allow contained raised fire pits and barbecues until 11pm. Please bring your own and wood. We do not sell wood. Open campfires are not permitted. No burning the ground please.

PARKING
You can park beside your tent on some of our fields except in adverse weather conditions. The other fields have parking bays next to them and cannot be accessed by car.
