All at Baysbrown
Baysbrown Farm Campsite is located 7 miles from Ambleside in the village of Chapel Stile at the entrance to the stunning Great Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District. We are a working Lakeland sheep farm with an area set aside for camping.
At Baysbrown we don’t take bookings but operate a first come first served policy.
We like to be pretty casual about camping. Being in the valley bottom means we are exposed to the elements and it can very wet and windy if we get a typical British summer. We want you to come along and enjoy the site when the weather is good. Without pre paying for a spot you can turn up freely.
We are old school camping. Just a couple of fields with shower/toilet facilities, a washing up area and drinking water available. You bring everything you need with you, pick a spot and make the most of the area.
There is no wifi or electric on site (apart from a plug for hairdryers/straighteners etc. in the ladies).
The view from the campsite is spectacular and a superb location for walking, running, climbing, bouldering and ghyll scrambling. Routes include Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, The Langdale Pikes and Scafell. There are great lower level walks through valley bottoms, woodlands and picturesque villages. Langdale is also in a great location to explore many other areas in the Lake District.
Please note we have a narrow entrance with a hump bridge to access the site. The bridge is 3 metres wide but vehicles low to the ground or with tanks located underneath will catch the hump and could cause damage.
Baysbrown Farm Campsite is normally open from 1st April until 31st October (We will open for Easter if it falls in March).
